WHAT IS UMPIRING ALL ABOUT:                                            

  • NL is in need of more umpires of all age levels. If you or your child is interested in gaining a better understanding of the game, having more fun on the field, and earning some money in the process, then  please contact our Umpire in Chief, Neil Rogers at umpire@nlsoftball.ca  for more information.
  • Umpires must be a minimum of 12 years old and have 2 years of player experience to come out for Umpire training.
  • Umpiring is a great way to enjoy softball from a new perspective, improve your understanding of the game, learn leadership skills, and best of all…...earn a few dollars in the process! 
  • Umpires will officiate over games that are the division below their current age/skill level.
  • Our umpires are trained and allocated through the Langley Umpires Association. For more information, you can email them at langleyumpires@hotmail.com, or call UIC Tom Prosser at 778-878-7310.

                                                                 

CLINICS                                                                                    

  • Free drop in training clinics start in January and run through to the start of the season.

  • District 8 Certification Clinic dates set, and they are as follows:


    March 24th -  Chilliwack
    March 31st -  Abbotsford
    April 15th - Langley

    SPEAKING of clinics, some of you attended the umpire mini clinics in Cloverdale last season, and I'm happy to say that they will be hosting these clinics again, and Langley umpires are invited. It starts this Thursday, Jan.19th from 8pm - 9:15pm, and will run every Thursday evening until March 8th. I strongly encourage all of our Level 1 and new Level 2 umpires to attend. Keep in mind there is no cost for the clinic, and it's a great way to practice your mechanics and develop your rules knowledge.

  • Umpire's are issued a current Softball Canada rule book at certification clinics.  For copyright reasons there is no electronic version of SBC Rule Book.
